During one of the largest snow storms in December 1996, Dennis rented the first Riverside Chalet to a couple needing to get out of the weather.
Dennis, was a CPA in Bellevue, Washington with a dream to retire in the beautiful, Methow Valley where he yearned for all four seasons and the serentiy of the land. Through travels of his own, he had a vision of cabins set along the river where people could come to relax away from the city buzz and enjoy nature's beauty. As a seasoned traveler, Dennis appreciated and expected quality, comfort and value as the standard of lodging.
Along with a local carpentar, Paul Herget, Dennis began building his dream along the Chewuch River located downtown Winthrop, Washgington. Between working five days a week in Bellevue and swinging a hammer on the weekends in Winthrop, Dennis built the ultimate lodging experience for his guests.
The first six Three-Bedroom Riverside Chalets, were completed in 1996 featuring all the Comforts of Home that one might to expect in their own home. Dennis's goal was to provide lodging where families, friends and couples could stay, cook a meal in a full-size kitchen, lounge on the deck, relax in a private hot tub and walk to town.
The next building phase were the five, One-Bedroom Cozy Cabins which were completed in December 2000. Dennis wanted to provide something smaller for the traveler that preferred smaller space, but with the same quality and luxury of the larger chalet. The One-Bedroom Cozy Cabins are ideal for two guests and offer a well-appointed kitchenette.
As the story goes, Dennis soon discovered his guests were enjoying the variety of accommodations and through conversations learned there was a need for the mid-size Riverside Chalet. The Two-Bedroom Riverside Chalets were completed in 2002.
Dennis saw his dream through, semi-retired in the Methow Valley and married Heidi a Registered Nurse with a 10-year hospitality background as a Flight Attendant for UsAirways. The two joined forces and followed their passion and shared it with travelers coming to the Methow Valley.
Today, it's Heidi's honor and pleasure to carry forward, her late husbands dream to provide traveler's the Comforts of Home while staying at River's Edge Resort.
